ODM: a new smart display designed for your product

ODM means we design a new product to your requirements — cabinet, mainboard configuration and software — and then manufacture it. Because MJK designs its own Rockchip mainboards and publishing software, the hardware and software are developed by one team.

ODM: a new smart display designed for your product

What we design for you

  • Industrial design and sheet-metal structure of the cabinet
  • Mainboard configuration: chipset, memory, interfaces, peripherals
  • Firmware, launcher, kiosk mode and device management
  • Integration of printers, scanners, readers, cameras and sensors
  • Packaging design and certification plan for your target market

What to prepare

A short brief is enough to start: where the product will be used, what the user does on it, the screen size and quantity you expect, and the market you sell into. Sketches, reference products or competitor models help. Drawings can be protected under an NDA on request.

How ODM differs from OEM

OEM changes the appearance of an existing model; ODM creates a new one. ODM takes longer and may involve tooling, but the result is a product nobody else sells. Read the full comparison in our guide OEM vs ODM for smart displays.

Frequently asked questions

Who owns the design in an ODM project?

Ownership of the custom design is agreed in the contract before development starts.

Can you develop the software as well as the hardware?

Yes. Our software team has built B/S and C/S publishing systems, class-board and attendance software since 2007 and can develop or adapt the device software.
